A fine and important Norwegian tankard in birch burl wood with carved lion motif on top of lid, thumb piece and feet. Beautiful color, ceremonial markings on inside, lovely metal strap repair on outside of base.

The Chinoiserie decoration or Japanning as it is known in Europe,

This is a lovely and useful piece of furniture when a quiet corner asks
