About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this very nice 1872 edition of The Pilgrims progress and other works of John Bunyan. A very old and original book, its owned by my mother who was gifted it by her late husband, he had it rebound or restored I think it the 1990s, it was valued then around £600-£700, apparently, this is a rare year or maybe edition, I’m no book, expert. The condition is as you see it, the dust jacket has rips and wears but at least its present, the binding looks good and solid, the paper has discoloring but I can’t see any rips or missing pages. The illustrations look to be plate engraved prints and are very fine and highly detailed, I wouldn’t be surprised if a number of these books were butchered for these prints as they must been very collectable as decorative period pictures. Dimensions: Height 28.5 cm Width 24 cm Depth 7 cm. Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point. This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses. Condition: Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition. Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade
