About the Item
California artist Tony Berlant discovered his medium, discarded metal advertising signs, while living in Venice Beach, California in the 1960s. His application of preprinted signage onto the cube form became his signature technique. Using steel brads to attach the reconfigured metal to the wood base the cube has a wonderfully tactile quality on all six sides. This is the largest example of his cubes that we are aware of. Titled "The Forest" from 1990.
