About the Item

A striking ceramic vase attributed to Gunnar Andersson for Höganäs Keramik, signed and dated 1979. The piece features gentle, deliberate curves and a luxurious matte glaze that delights in the hand—its substantial form delivers confident sculptural presence. About Höganäs Keramik & Gunnar Andersson Founded in 1909 as Andersson & Johansson's Pottery Factory in southern Sweden, Höganäs Keramik evolved into a prominent ceramics studio, particularly from the 1940s onward, producing artware and functional stoneware under the banner of Swedish design. Gunnar Andersson, a key contributor, began his career in the mid‑1950s, also co‑founded Deco Settlement AB in Helsingborg, and remained closely involved with Höganäs through the 1970s. This vase exemplifies the quiet elegance of late 20th‑century Scandinavian ceramics: soft form, subtle texture, and restrained palette. It’s a beautifully tactile centerpiece, perfectly suited for a plinth, console, or sculptural table display.
