An exceptional, fine and impressive, composite pair of antique George IV English sterling silver grape shears; an addition to our silver flatware collection.
These exceptional antique sterling silver grape shears have a hinged scissor action.
The cast handles of these impressive George IV shears are embellished with profuse floral and scrolling leaf ornamentation, incorporating interlacing leaf decorated fingerpieces with floral festoons to the lower portions.
The hinged portion of one pair of grape shears is surmounted with an impressive leaf decorated rosette accented with a matte background.
One pair of grape shears has plain tapering blades and the other bears undulating, incurved blades with straight cutting edges.
These exceptional examples of antique silverware are the finest of their type you could hope to acquire.
Condition
These antique sterling silver grape shears are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The cast decoration is all very sharp. Full hallmarks struck across the blades of each piece are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.
