About the Item

The STACKED Illuminated Saucer Sculpture is customizable in virtually any wood and any finish. The examples shown in this listing include Cherry and Walnut, both in a Natural Finish. However, Specialty Finishes are also available, such as Blackened, BoneWhite, Exotic Woods, etc. All sculptures are hand-built custom per your specifications. Larger or smaller, another wood species, a different profile, or something else, they are customizable. Hand-built with tiny blocks of wood; each block is carefully placed to create the desired shape. Once built, the exterior is gently sculpted smooth using a variety of hand tools achieving a polished surface with subtle undulations similar to that of hand-built ceramics. The interior of the sculpture is left unshaped and is flash gilded with a pearlescent mica powder that accentuates the terraced contours. The salvaged wood offers one-of-a-kind patterns brought to life by Richard’s unique STACKing process, achieving a quality akin to basketry or mosaic tile work; the overall shape, quantity, and scale of Richard’s STACKED pieces are customizable upon request. The illuminated sculpture is suspended from its canopy plate with 1/16" black aircraft cable and is fully adjustable within the provided length of cable. The cotton covered cord hosts a standard ceramic E26 base. Designed for use with an oversized lightbulb. ***Please see note below regarding lightbulb.*** UL listed components. Additionally, Richard can custom design a new form or shape, tailoring it to perfectly compliment your space and needs, be it a floor lamp, wall mounted or hanging Customizations may incur additional costs. Please note, this listing includes one single hanging sculpture. ***Please Note - the lightbulb shown in these images was an incandescent which is no longer available for sale or purchase in the United States. I am now using TALA’s Sphere V led lightbulb. This bulb is frosted and measures just under 8”dia (shown in final image). And, if desired, we can discuss other lightbulb options as well.***
