Astor Table Lamp by Thomas Bley for Memphis Collection

About the Item

Thomas Bley 1982 Table lamp in decorative laminate and lacquered wood. Designed in 1982 by Thomas Bley, the only German designer to take part in Memphis, Astor is a table lamp that disrupts the traditional image of the object. Astor’s conical silhouette is made in plastic laminate and adorned by two cylinders of lacquered wood towards the top: one black, the other blue. The bulb with its particular oblong form is a Philips PI 11W. According to Bley, "Memphis concentrated on the creation of objects made not only to be possessed and loved, but also to be stimulating, never leaving anyone indifferent to their presence." Bulbs included: EU YES / US NO Format: x1 PLS 11W
