Designed by Inga Sempé, the Matin Table Lamp offers a contemporary yet poetic design, with a construction that combines visual delicacy with physical robustness.
It consists of a steel wire bent frame finished in polished brass with matte black hardware and is paired with a pleated cotton shade in a variety of vibrant colors.
The light source is an integrated LED, offering a diffused light which is accompanied by a digital in-line dimmer control to adjust the output of light if required.

Designer
Inga Sempé is a French designer who lives and works in Paris. A graduate of the Ecole Nationale Superieure de Création Industrielle (ENSCI) in Paris (1993), she also took up a scholarship at the Villa Medici, Académie de France in Rome (2000 - 2001). She was awarded the Red Dot Design Award in 2007. Her work is known for a lightness of touch, for a strong personality and for a particularly tactile nature. The idea of everyday use is at the centre of Sempé’s approach and she often seeks out materials with special properties to answer the need of a daily function. For HAY, she has created the Matin Collection and Mousqueton Portable.

Arne Jacobsen designed the AJ Lamp for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen (Radisson Collection) in 1957. Today, the AJ family is regarded as the design that the Danish architect is best known for all over the world. At that time, the AJ family comprised a table and a floor lamp as well as a wall lamp, a small table lamp and a table lamp that was designed to attach to the table. The wall lamp could be found in beautiful rows in stainless steel in the lobby when the hotel was opened in 1960. In combination with the pendant AJ Royal, the AJ Lamp formed part of the overall design concept that Jacobsen created for the hotel. Arne Jacobsen did not just design the hotel down to the smallest detail for SAS (Scandinavian Airlines), he also designed almost all the hotel’s original furniture and utility items. The profile of the AJ Lamp with its straight lines and its combination of oblique and right angles is not only seen as a formal parallel to the profile of the Series 3300 seats, but also to the geometric profiles of his buildings.
