About the Item
Vintage stool by Christian Durupt.
Christian Durupt is a master French cabinetmaker active in the 1960s who gained a reputation for his exquisite work in solid wood. He is also known for designing accommodation for ski resorts in Savoie in collaboration with Charlotte Perriand. This stool was made for the Méribel ski resort in France.
The thick, square seat is gently carved with indentations. The seams of the tabletop and the star-shaped nails that connect and secure each piece are distinctive.
It is made of pine, just like the furniture used at Les Arcs, which Charlotte Perriand was involved in.
