About the Item
An early South German Biedermeier chest of drawers, circa 1825, featuring four drawers with stunning bookmatched walnut veneer on a softwood carcass. The beautifully grained walnut root veneer is present on all visible surfaces, including the top, sides, and drawer fronts.
The chest retains its original black key escutcheons. All locks have been professionally restored and are fully functional. Four matching solid brass keys were added later and work smoothly. The drawer runners (guide rails) were also overhauled, ensuring excellent usability.
The piece stands on shaped block feet and is finished with a hand-polished surface, enhancing the warmth and depth of the wood grain. A finely restored and fully functional example of early Biedermeier craftsmanship.
