About the Item

Handmade low commode with Pyrography by Jirí Krejcirík Dimensions: 130 x 50 x 77 cm Material: Birch wood Also available in other materials and dimensions. The furniture is inspired by Czech Art Nouveau aesthetics and interdisciplinary artists of that period such as FrantiAek Bilek. Interdisciplinarity, which was typical for that era, led to the idea of combining design and drawings, crossing the borders between applied arts and fine arts. I designed the sculptural furniture which visual artist Taja Spasskova etched using a woodburning technique that was typical of the aforementioned period. These influences are present in the limited collection of collectible furniture in which both the design and drawing are related to the era. The furniture is carefully hand-crafted in the Czech Republic with a deep focus on delicate details such as miter joints, beveled edges, soft-touch matte surface finishing etc. Awards: 10/2019 // Designblok Award 2019 / Best new product by a designer / Winner 02/2020 // Czech Grand Design Awards 2019 / The Designer of the Year / Nominee 02/2020 // ELLE Decoration International Design Awards 2020 / The Designer of the Year / Nominee Exhibitions: Prague International Design Festival Designblok / 2019 Centre for Contemporary Art - DOX / Prague / 2020 Artisème / Prague / 2019 Rossana Orlandi Summer Gallery / Porto Cervo / 2020 Rossana Orlandi Master Gallery / Milano / 2020 - 2021.

Signed Zanotta Genesio Chest of Drawers in Veneered Wood by Alik Cavaliere
By Alik Cavaliere, Zanotta
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Born from the experimentations of Zabro Zanotta Edizioni is a special collection of furnishing items verging on art and design. Items in this collection are inspired by the Italian artistic handcrafting tradition. Free from the bonds of industrial production, they are charged with the powerful charm of "handmade” objects. Genesio Design Alik Cavaliere, 1990 Furniture as sculptures and stories. Creations designed by Alik Cavaliere have an unmistakeable mark in art as in design. The role of decoration is central: wooden inlay work, smelted metal and lacquered images. This Roman artist who became Milanese by adoption (for 30 years, he taught sculpture at the Academy of Brera, where he was also the director) was also a design alchemist. He used metals, bronzes, porcelain and glass and experimented with enamels, rare pigments and even gold. He worked from memory by soldering, smelting and assembling. “I always used materials like a director does, like a theatrical property man or the narrator of stories and tales.” Cavaliere has created 3 show pieces...
