About the Item
One of the kind master piece by the ceramicist couple Andrée & Michel Hirlet: Rare coffee table made of concrete inlaid with enameled stoneware elements creating a geometric pattern that recall in significant ways the iconic aesthetic of the 70's decade. Three elements are little pots in a round shape made as playful objects which might be placed differently open or closed.
For more than 60 years, the Hirlets enjoyed a prolific and varied career. Their work represents an exploration of the visual vocabulary that characterized the Scandinave style as know as minimalist and organized, combining a color palette warm and brown. Influenced by urbanism, architecture and abstract art, their nuanced body of work alternates sculpture and functional objects integrating combinatorial geometric volumes in stoneware, from small to monumental. Their work, a true blend of art and design, has built over the years showing the same rigorous, strictly logical but still playful qualities, fundamental to their research.
