Mid-Century Teak desk by Herbert Hirche for Holzapfel. Handsome writing desk with attractive teak grain and a set of stacked drawers. Its grey enameled metal legs, matching drawer pulls and metal file folders give it an industrial styling while maintaining its Mid-Century appeal. This desk is lightly refinished and has some signs of wear and enamel loss consistent with its age and use. Manufacturer tag on inside of drawer. Chair opening: 24”

Herbert Hirche
Herbert Hirche was a Bauhaus student from 1930–33, his teacher being Mies van der Rohe. Afterward, Hirche worked in van der Rohe’s office and later with Egon Eiermann. He continued as a professor at the State Academy of Fine Art in Stuttgart.
