"Victor" Maple and Bamboo Writing Desk Designed by Mario Airo for Adele-C

About the Item

"Victor" is a writing desk, designed by Mario Airo' and manufactured by Adele-C, featuring legs in solid maple wood and desktop case in veneered pale and dark bamboo, with drop-leaf flap containing a hologram and tray-shaped heat-curved shelves. Trays and drop-leaf flap are in pale bamboo, with a dark bamboo strip around the edge of the table top. Indoor use only. DIMENSIONS: D. 30.7", W. 56.2", H. 38.5", h. 29.1" (desktop) "Victor" originates from a research by the artist Mario Airo', oriented to open up mental spaces which objects and places daily generate. After several works focusing on that tiny microcosm-like room, typical of the Renaissance humanists, called "studiolo", considered as a treasure-chest of culture and dreams, Airo' created this writing desk. Victor embodies memories of childhood and school desks and evokes concentration, ability of abstraction and dialogue with personal passions. There's a touch of magic at the centre of the table: a kind of hologram that calls up intuition and magic. For Adele-C, Airo' first of all wanted to combine dimension and concentration of thought with contemporary domestic space. Think of your desk as a strongly characterized piece of design able to take you into a dreaming and secret dimension, where you can make a full use of all the points of view proper to the depth of study and thought. MARIO AIRO', born in 1961 at Pavia, lives and works in Milan. His work originates from what the artist calls "wandering", intended as the personal experience of moving and communicating through all the things the artist encounters, avoiding any kind of intellectual or formal prejudice. His works stem from a wide range of cultural references including literature, movies, art history and elements of everyday life, which he composes into a network of new and intentionally ambiguous relationships, inviting the viewer to look at the real world from a new perspective. Airo'’s poetics, which emphasize formal and cultural cross-fertilization, often include music as a key element of the artist's work. ADELE-C collection, including and extending the legacy of the well-known Cassina brand, consists of pieces of design indifferent to passing fads and ready to show new paths for interior design. Adele-C collection is typically ready to naturally adapt to any space, as its sobriety in style and quality of materials are simply perfect to enrich any room in a refined way.
