About the Item

Crafted in France circa 1880, this antique refectory or monastery table is made of solid elm with a rich, warm patina. The rectangular top rests on trestle-style supports, each shaped with gentle curves and ending in molded bridge feet for a sturdy foundation. The base is joined by a central cross-stretcher secured with traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery, highlighting both strength and authentic craftsmanship. The robust design and architectural simplicity are characteristic of the Louis XIII Revival style, which reinterpreted early 17th-century French forms for 19th-century interiors. Measuring 78.5 inches wide, 31.25 inches deep, and 30 inches high, this antique table is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use. Ideal as a dining or farmhouse table, it comfortably seats six to eight, making it as practical today as it was in the 19th century.
