About the Item

Imagine a dining table that elegantly adapts to both intimate and grand gatherings—a sculptural embodiment of mid-century modern ingenuity. This expanding, three-leaf table unfolds with poise: at its compact form, it greets six guests; when fully deployed, it comfortably accommodates eight, all within a graceful rounded-rectangle silhouette. The seamless extension showcases thoughtful proportions—clean curves at the ends, extended wings that maintain fluidity, and a design where practicality meets sculptural integrity. Craftsmanship reveals itself in every detail. The top, fashioned from rich wood veneer—perhaps walnut or teak—glows with warmth, its grain dynamically radiating across the surface. Edge banding is precisely applied, securing each panel with structural finesse. At the heart of the table, the extension mechanism operates with near-effortless refinement, guided by concealed sliders and timber joints that ensure alignment and continuity even when fully expanded. Elevating the visual elegance, the base usually features a sculptural pedestal or slender square legs, embodying mid-century restraint while offering generous knee clearance. Stability and grace walk hand in hand, reinforcing the table’s dual promise: daily use and aesthetic impact. When seated, diners experience a spatial choreography—the extended leaves subtly draw people inward, crafting conducive settings for conversation, celebration, and connection. Light dances across the wood’s surface, accentuating its tonal variations and enriching the dining experience with tactile beauty and sensorial glow. Collectors appreciate such expandable tables as rare mid-century modern treasures—practical, adaptable, and sculpturally elegant. Contemporary listings of comparable walnut or teak expandable tables—especially those that seat eight—often trade strong interest, with values frequently reaching into the low thousands, reflecting their dual role as functional furniture and design heirlooms. This piece is more than a dining surface—it is a hospitality instrument, an architectural anchor, and a mid-century narrative in motion. Whether hosting a festive dinner or sustaining day-to-day elegance, it holds space with both generosity and grace. For the discerning collector or style-conscious homeowner, it offers the rare alchemy of utility and artistry—timeless, versatile, and undeniably charismatic. This expanding Mid-Century Modern dining table comes with 3 leaves, 12” wide each. Customize the versatile table to four lengths. The most compact size is 62″, add one leaf to reach 74 inches. The second leaf brings the table to 86″ long. Finally the third leaf maxes the table out 98 inches. Seat 8 guests comfortably. Depending on the size of the chairs and people, you could host up to 10. The rounded rectangle shape is great for homes with children. No worries of youngsters injuring themselves on sharp corners. This is an original condition dining table, vintage late 1960s or early 1970s. 62” – 98” Long x 40” Wide x 29.75” High 3 Leaves – 12” Wide each Condition: The table presents nicely but looking closely you can see some light wear including scratches and scuffs and small nicks on the leaves.

Modern Minimalist Rosewood Rectangular Dining Table With Tubular Legs
By Arne Vodder
Located in Chattanooga, TN
Custom made, one-of-one modern minimalist rosewood dining table, vintage Nineteen-Laties (late 20th Century). This sleek dining table is all about showcasing the exceptional cut of rosewood used to fabricate the table top. Honey and cinnamon colors contrast with deep cherry chocolate hues, giving the grain brilliant appeal. The color and motion in the wood figuring is simply exquisite. No further ornament is needed. The elegant table is supported by four cylindrical legs. This uniform round leg is a much appreciated lark, deviating from the typical pencil turned tapered or even square legs. A Minimalist masterpiece is one that can capture harmony and beauty in a seemingly simple, albeit genius way. Judging by this metric, we’d rate this table a winner. The table is pictured with six chairs but can comfortably seat eight. You may even be able to fit ten guests depending on chair size. The classic table design makes it easy to blend with many styles. It’s a modern table, but we have it paired with Chinoiserie chairs in the picture (the chairs are not included). Consider pairing these with Danish, farmhouse...
