About the Item

The "Interlock Table" this design is based on a vintage Post War Design found plywood table by an unknown designer. The era of Post War Design was a period of optimism and all things new, the use of plywood was a central component to this ethos by the leading architects and Industrial designers going into the 1950s, i.e. Richard Neutra, Rudolph Schindler, Nathan Lerner and Klaus Grabbe of The New Bauhaus Chicago School of Design and Art founded in 1937 by Laszlo Moholy-Nagy taught and influenced many of these creatives whose work was central to the Modernist Design explosion of the 1950s in the United States . This table is a homage to this aesthetic, consisting of five interlocking pieces constructed of high grade marine plywood with precise cuts the pieces fit together snugly for a steady table and breaks down for easy transport. The design can be modified to be a work desk or dinning table, we can also create custom sizes based on the dimensions of the sheets of plywood available and well as different woods and finishes. This table is produced in the Bay Area of Northern California in small made to order batches. Choices of plywood are Walnut, Quarter Sawn Sapele, White Oak, Vertical Grain Fir, Alder, European Beech, Natural Birch, Maple, Teak, Cherry, African Mahogany and Red Oak.
