About the Item

A small inlaid side table in octagonal shape, handcrafted in India out of seasoned teak wood and responsibly sourced animal bone inlay. Inlay is an ancient decorative technique that involves embedding delicate materials into the surface of an object, generally wood. In earlier times it was ivory, ebony, mother-of-pearl or metals. This process is done piece by piece by expert Indian artisans who have carried the tradition for generations. The result makes for striking patterns of contrasting colors and materials that make these pieces truly unique. This charming little table consists of two pieces: a hinged collapsible base, and the octagonal top that rests securely on the base when placed on top, secured by grooves at the top of the base. This design allows the table to be quickly disassembled and folded away, taking a small storage space. This table was made in 2024, and has never been used. The surface, the construction and the wood finishes are impeccable, with no signs of wear other than the slight imperfections of artisanally-made wood furniture. 18 inches tall, 18 inches wide (octagonal top).
