About the Item

Wrap side table by Johannes Hemann Material: Steel. Dimensions: Ø 60 x H 55 cm. All our lamps can be wired according to each country. If sold to the USA it will be wired for the USA for instance. Wrap examines the shells of things remaining after their disappearance. For this branches of trees are covered in steel wire which is then soldered. The branch being burnt out of the cast. The original shape of the branches remaining in the cover of steel wire now defining the shape of the lamp, side table. The shape of model / items is not only defined by the process of covering, but mostly by the shape of the branch. And from the shape of the branch you can guess to which tree the branch belonged. The spruce branches which I used for some lamps, for example, opening wide and wild, the beech branches creating leaner, higher forms, the surface on the outside is polished until you can see the two materials: the steel wire and the brass soldering wire, The different colours also reminiscence of the making and the annual growth rings, the inside has not been polished or treated, but only been lacquered, to actually show the process.

Table 3 La Che by Sebastian Herkner
Located in Geneve, CH
Table 3 La Che by Sebastian Herkner Materials: 100% fique fibers from Furcraea leaves from Furcraea leaves. Technique: Hand-woven in Colombia. Dimensions: diameter 70 cm x wide 59 x height 32 cm Available in colors: black, verde, bronce, cuerda. And other sizes. The La Che side table honors the beautiful traditional weaving craft of Colombia. Sebastian Herkner designed the collection after visiting Colombia and studying the weaving techniques of the local artisans. The name La Che is a reference to the Laches, an indigenous Colombian people, who used a method with the same name to create baskets. The tables are available in three sizes. The tables are made in small workshops in the Boyacá region, which is situated 2,400 meters above sea level in the Colombian Andes. This area has a long tradition of working with fibers made from the leaves of the fique plant. These fibers are wound by hand and a robust part of the fique plant is used as a frame. The dyes used have mostly natural ingredients, such as nuts, roots, and bark from trees, all native to the region. The production process is very labor-intense and requires a great deal of skill: It takes several weeks to produce one La Che table...
