Watercolor painting "Girl at the balustrade" by Marga Goove-Marcovic. Germany
"Girl at the balustrade" by Marga Groove-Marcovic. (1920-2002) Germany.
Original watercolor painting with white opaque paint. Framed with Passepartout behind glass.
Marga Groove-Marcovic was a very versatile artist. The illustrated german exhibition catalog contains information about her artistic career and education.
She was a student of Zoltan Székessy, a german-hungarian sculptor at the "Düsseldorf Academy of Art".
Groove-Marcovic created sculptures, paintings, drawings, watercolors and collages.
Children were a favorite motif for her.
Although this painting is not dated, it could be conditionally considered to the fifties / sixties, since according to the catalog, the artist mainly created watercolors during this period.
The friendly, strong and bright colors stand in stark contrast to the dark and empty eyes of the girl.
Perhaps due to the children´s traumatic war experiences ?
