What are the advantages and disadvantages of cotton?

Cotton is breathable and hypoallergenic, as well as being a renewable resource and biodegradable. On the minus side,  it is prone to shrinking and not color-fast, so dyes tend to fade with washing. Also, compared with man-made fibers like polyester, cotton wears faster and holds moisture longer.
