What are the parts of a lampshade called?

1 Answer
The main parts of a lampshade are the frame, the lining, the outer, the finial and the fitter. Usually made out of metal, the frame is the inner structure of the lampshade that defines its shape. The lining is an inner layer of fabric that helps to diffuse and filter light, while the outer is the fabric or other material on the outside that you can see. Located at the top, the finial is the decorative piece that extends above the shade and remains visible once the accessory is in position. The fitter is the metal piece that attaches to the bulb or lamp to hold the shade in place. Shop a wide variety of lampshades on 1stDibs.
