The answer to the question of when did Watches of Switzerland buy Mappin & Webb may be a bit surprising, as it's a misconception that the latter company purchased the former. By the 1990s, the company Asprey owned both Mappin & Webb and Watches of Switzerland. In 1998, Judith Pilkington arranged for the sale of both Mappin & Webb and Watches of Switzerland, starting a new organization.
