About the Item
Abstraction of a Castle is a watercolor by contemporary artist Annemarie Ambrosoli painted on 600 gsm Fabriano paperboard, measuring 30.5 x 37.5 cm.
Cardboard surface: coarse grain.
The painting is part of a series of watercolors painted between 2000 and 2015.
The painting is signed in the lower left corner.
The color tones of the watercolor are very muted. The painting has various shades of yellow for the castle, various shades of blue for the sky with different overlays of the same color. The triangle-shaped trees are to represent pine trees, which being the painting inspired by an autumn landscape, the trees are painted in shades ranging from yellow ochre to green.
The watercolor technique allows for numerous overlays of hues. Also in this painting, the color overlays give more depth to the scene.
The inspiration for this painting is the castle "Schloss Bruneck" in South Tyrol.
Annemarie Ambrosoli made several preparatory sketches to arrive at the abstraction of the castle.
Annemarie Ambrosoli has in the past devoted herself to the study of landscape painting from life.
