About the Item
Jen P. Harris (b. 1977, she/they) is a Los Angeles-based artist working with painting, installation, drawing, collage, and collective projects. Harris holds a B.A. from Yale and an M.F.A. from Queens College of the City University of New York. She is a recipient of a 2012 New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in Painting, and grants from the Puffin Foundation, Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice, and Iowa Arts Council. Jen’s paintings and installations have been exhibited in galleries and museums across the United States, most recently in a solo show at Edgar Gallery in downtown Los Angeles in 2020. The New York Times, Columbia Journal, Guernica Magazine, CultureCatch, and The Philadelphia Inquirer have featured her work. Harris is a current contributor for the artist-run publication The Coastal Post and maintains a studio in Lincoln Heights, Los Angeles. Harris has served as a visiting artist at over a dozen institutions and prior to moving to LA, she served on the Board of Public Space One in Iowa City.
