"Redheads" - Original Watercolor on Paper Original watercolor titled "Redheads" by Alan James Robinson (American b. 1950). Two redhead ducks shown from the side, both facing to the left. Vibrant hues of red and brown make up the top feathers, while rich blues are used for the beaks. Titled "Redheads" lower left. "21/100" Middle. Signed "Alan James Robinson" lower right. Presented in a white mat with a giltwood frame. Frame: 16"H x 17"W Mat: 13"H x 14"W Image: 7.5"H x 9.5"W Alan James Robinson was born in California in 1950. He has been a fulltime Artist since 1975 when he graduated with a Fine Arts Degree from the Southern Connecticut University. Alan went on to receive his Master of Fine Arts at the University of Massachusetts in Printmaking and Sculpture three years later. He opened his own Letterpress Print Shop in 1979 where he published 28 separate titles created the way books were printed in the 19th century. Using hand set type and illustrating the book with his etchings and wood engravings he has created some of the most beautiful letterpress books in the last 50 years. His fascination with maps and charts started at an early age as he has been an outdoorsman, fly fisherman and photographer for most of his life traveling to almost every continent in his pursuit of experiences and capturing images that reflect his interest in nature. Robinsons books and art have won numerous awards and can be found in many public and private collections. He has also licensed illustrations to many magazines and book publishers, including: Disney, Knopf, San Francisco Chronicle, Doubleday, Moyer Bell, North Point Press, Univ. of Illinois Press, Safari Press, Lyons Press, Fly Rod and Reel, Sporting Classics, and Wild Steelhead and Atlantic Salmon.
