c. 2010

About the Item

Bold modernist portrait of a goat done in black and blue watercolor by Karen Druker (American, 1945). Signed "Druker" in the lower right corner. Presented in an off-white mat. No frame. Image size: 30"H x 23"W Karen Druker (American, b. 1945) in an artist from the San Francisco Bay Area. She has been painting since 2001, after retiring from her catering and event planning company. Druker is an associate member of the National Watercolor Society and co-chair of Watermedia Workshops for The Santa Clara County Watercolor Society. She has been participating in Silicon Valley Open Studios since 2003. Artist’s Statement: I am continuously exploring and experimenting in my art! Creativity is my long suit. I have no fear! I only paint for myself. It is just a piece of paper, I tell myself. It is a CANVAS THAT CAN BE REPAINTED AGAIN AND AGAIN - and it will get better! And it does. I allow mistakes! I love painting in series, to ever get deeper into the subject. I have painted up to 60 versions of the same still life set-up, emphasizing color, value, size, direction, shape, line, etc. in various versions. Currently most of my work is abstract. My favorite artists are Matisse and Picasso. They continued to experiment and try new methods and medias throughout their lives, and I am inspired to do the same - keep it fresh! Keep it new! Doing ceramic wall pieces is next.
