Watercolour over pencil in a 19th century burr walnut frame. Dimensions are 14.2 x 21.8 cm unframed, 21.5 x 27 cm framed. 'Two Pointers in a Landscape', by an artist in the circle of Henry Alken (1785-1851). This work by an unknown nineteeth-century artist depicts two pointers moving through open country. Pointers are gun dogs typically used to find game when hunting. The Alken dynasty of sporting artists popularised this subject matter and style of drawing in the nineteenth century. The burr walnut frame is 19th century.
