About the Item

New Yorker is original black China ink drawing on ivory-colored paper, made by the Swedish illustrator and reporter Adolf Reinhold Hallman around 1956 ca. Hand-signed on the lower, with the description on the back in the blue pen. On the back the green ink stamp "Made in U.S.A". The state of preservation is good and aged paper, especially along the margins. This artwork represents standing elderly and his profile through confident and deft strokes in black ink with a serious appearance masterly. Adolf Hallman (1893 – 1968) was a Swedish illustrator who sensibly contributed to Swedish, Danish and Norwegian newspapers and magazines, including Tidens Tegn, Dagbladet, Exlex and Politiken. Among his books is På Boulevard Europa. He illustrated editions of Charles Baudelaire's Fleurs du Mal and Guy de Maupassant's Boule de Suif.
