B. Cory Kilvert
Lest We Forget

This original 1907 watercolor by B. Cory Kilvert titled "Lest We Forget" comes from the storied Cream of Wheat advertising archives. This large and decidedly quaint image embodies the aesthetic of the American Arts & Crafts movement. Responding to fussy, over ornamented Victorian tastes, the Arts & Crafts movement artists evoked scenes of Dutch mills and serene pastoral views presented in contrast to modern industrialization. Here, a little girl in Dutch attire at the general store is seen with a string tied on her finger, "Lest She Forget" her Cream of Wheat breakfast cereal. Watercolor is beautifully matted and framed in a period Arts & Crafts wide profile fumed quarter sawn oak antique frame and comes with a full page color printed tear sheet of work. Sight Size 16" x 23" Framed 28 1/2" x 35". Signed LR.
