About the Item
Wonderful figurative watercolor on Strathmore tinted paper by the well known Florida artist, Gerald “Jerry” Franklin McClish. Signed lower right. Condition is excellent. The artwork is under glass and in a new contemporary silver leaf frame that can be hung or can be table standing. Overall framed measurements are 10 by 12 inches. Provenance: A Sarasota, Florida collector.
Gerals Franklin McClish was born in Indiana in 1920 but was most noted as a marine painter in Florida. He was a member of the International Society of Marine Painters. He died in Florida in 2008.

Several tiny foxing spots with small areas of mild wrinkles on the outer corners. Matted but not framed. He was the son of an innkeeper and brewer. Initially, he wanted to become an architect and, in pursuit of that goal, attended the Technische Universität Darmstadt. After 1875, he studied copper engraving with Johann Leonhard Raab and general art subjects with Ludwig von Löfftz, at the Munich Academy.
