Neapolitan Fisherman (Original Italian title "Pescatore Napoletano") is an original modern artwork realized by the famous Italian artist Michela De Vito in the 19thCentury.
Original Gouache on paper.
The sheet is glued on cardboard.
Titled in pen on the lower margin: Pescatore Napoletano.
Mint conditions.
Colored gouache on paper depicting an interesting figure of the Neapolinat tradition: the fisherman.
Michela De Vito in the half of the XIX Century. Michela De Vito has been an artist of great importance during the 19th century. He was daughter or sister, we don't know, of Camillo De Vito, a very fertile gouache painter, mainly representing views and costume scenes from Naples. She was active in Naples in the early decades of the nineteenth century and she was sometimes confused with Michele de Vito. "Refined painter, of great drawn ability, she had the characteristic of refining her physiognomy contrary to what some of her colleagues used to do of her, even though they were honored by royal orders". This is how De Rosa and Trastulli defined it in the introductory essay to the catalog of the exhibition in Chieti The popular costume of Abruzzo between 700 and 800.
