Daley (b. 1922) was born in San Bernardino, California and studied art in Los Angeles school as well as San Bernardino Valley Union College. With U. S. entry into World War II, he enlisted in the Coast Guard and was assigned duty in the South Pacific, where he worked as an official combat illustrator amidst intense action. After the war Daley became director of the Civic light Opera Company. He also enjoyed painting set designs and went on to create important murals throughout the western states. In 1952, at the age of thirty, Daley moved to New York City where his reputation as an artist began to increase. It was in the city during his early career that he concentrated on architectural renderings, the period during which the present lot was executed and purchased by the late owner. Daley went on to focus on watercolor landscapes, particularly coastal scenes, and his work has been recognized by a number of institutions, including the American Watercolor Society, American Academy of Arts and Letters and others. Daley spent several years as artist -in- residence on cruise ships M S Sagafjord and Vistafjord of Norwegian-American lines. Owner of his own gallery in Lenox Ma brought him in contact with hundreds of clients for his art. He was also a resident in Ft Lauderdale, Fl. While living in the south he created a mural for the Royal Palm Yacht Club in Boca Raton. He lived the rest of his life in Palmetto, Manatee, Florida.
