This delightful watercolour by Henry Benjamin Roberts RBA (1832-1915) depicts a young boy play his penny whilst to a tuneful canary. Wooden furniture, a large key and glassware complete the interior, all carefully depicted in a realistic manner by Roberts. The painting has been smartly mounted in a gilt-effect frame. Signed to the lower left. Indistinctly dated. On paper.
