Born in Jamaica, New York in 1887, Albert Van Nesse Greene (American, 1887 - 1971) had a long and thorough art education. He studied at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, DC; The Art Students League, New York; the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia; and in Paris at the Académie de la Grande Chaumiere. Albert Van Nesse Greene lived for his art and loved the Pennsylvania landscape. While studying at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, A.V. Greene excelled as a student under Daniel Garber and Hugh Breckenridge. He assisted Garber at the Yellow Springs Summer School and became a good friend of Newell Convers (N.C.) Wyeth. Greene would occasionally visit Garber in Lumberville, Pennsylvania and paint landscapes along the Delaware River in Bucks County. He lived in Chester County and painted many landscapes there as well as while travelling overseas in France. His paintings were exhibited extensively in the United States and France. Examples of his work can be found in the collections of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the National Gallery of Art among many others. He was a member of the Philadelphia Sketch Club, Society of Independent Artists, and the Yellow Springs Artists Association in Chester County. He exhibited with the Society of Washington Artists, the Pennsylvania Academy, and the Salons of America.

- "Locomotive Train in Snowstorm," Guy Wiggins, American Impressionist, WinterBy Guy WigginsLocated in Larchmont, NYGuy C. Wiggins (1883 - 1962) Locomotive Train in Snowstorm, 1957 Oil on paperboard 8 x 10 inches Signed lower left; signed and dated on the reverse Guy Carleton Wiggins is best known for his impressionistic snow scenes of New York in 1920's. Wiggins lived in Old Lyme and Essex where he operated an art school. The Connecticut country-side was conducive to his impressionist technique of plein-air painting and broken brushwork. Ironically, although his work includes many fine Connecticut landscapes, he is best remembered for some snow scenes of New York City. Like many other American Impressionists, Wiggins had one foot in the city and the other in the country (Vermont Hillside, South Londonderry). Wiggins was born in Brooklyn, New York, went to England with his family as a boy, received an English grammar school education, and traveled widely abroad. He was the son of a prominent artist, Carleton Wiggins, a painter in the Barbizon style who studied with George Inness and admired Anton Mauve and Dwight Tryon...Category

- "Federal Building – Wall Street, NYC" Impressionist Winter Scene Oil PaintingLocated in New York, NYImpressionist New York City winter city-scene depicting the Federal Building on Wall Street with American flags and pedestrians in a most intimate, yet energetic way. Christopher is known for capturing the beauty and simplicity of an earlier time of the 20th Century; old New York, families working together, villages and farms and friends taking walks together. Many are depicted in recognizable historical settings and this piece is an excellent example of this as he captures a snow-filled historic setting of New York with the calm, endearing charm of an American Flag and buildings with snow. Christopher engages his audience with the quick use of brushwork and great attention to picking up the energy passionately of his subjects. This piece comes displayed in a wood frame. It is ready to hang with wire on verso. Art measures 10 x 8 inches Framed measures 16.5 x 14.5 inches Christopher Willett...Category

- Winter SceneBy Walter Launt PalmerLocated in New York, NYIn this prototypical oil painting, Walter Launt Palmer's title as "the painter of the American winter" can be vividly and brilliantly seen. As an impressionist painter that emerged at the turn of the 20th century, Palmer took great interest in the picturesque American landscape, though he particularly focused on the rendering of this landscape glistening with snow. His pictures evoke an unreplicable natural serenity, and in this oil painting "The Winter Scene...Category
