A drive through Great Smoky Mountains National Park near sunset was the inspiration for this piece. As the mountain ranges receded into the distance, each layer was distinct. This piece is on heavyweight paper and will need a frame for display.
About the Artist
Bill Kreitlow is a longtime lover of watercolor. He began experimenting with the medium in high school, and has continued to explore its properties and test its limits. Bill uses translucent layers of paint to create the effects of light, water, and atmosphere. His images capture serene natural vistas at seemingly magical moments. Bill finds inspiration in glassy water and wispy clouds, and uses his own photographs taken on day trips and vacations as source material. Though the images are a great starting point, the final paintings are always subject to Bill’s own interpretive lens.
