An art teacher and artist, Phylllis McDowell taught in various places around the world, including her mother country of England, Ghana and California. The founder of the Folkestone Artists Collective, McDowell spent much time teaching and promoting arts education in her community, organizing and managing art exhibitions at the Grand Hotel in Folkestone from 2010 until her death.
