Frame size 27.2 inches x 36.8 inches ( 69cm x 93.5cm ). Available for sale is this original watercolour is by the English artist Lionel Horsnell which dates from the 1960s. The painting is presented and supplied in a sympathetic contemporary frame (which is shown in these photographs), mounted using conservation materials and behind non-reflective Artglass AR 70™. This vintage painting is in good condition, it wants for nothing and is supplied ready to hang and display. The watercolour is signed lower right. Lionel Horsnell was an English artist, born in Hertford in 1932. He studied art at the Harrogate School of Art and Leeds University. He specialised in watercolour paintings of the Home Counties and the south coast and exhibited in several galleries. He has been described as a Bohemian, and from the 1960s to the 1980s he liked to frequent Soho, where he drank in the Coach and Horses in Old Compton Street. He liked to travel by bicycle and often cycled around the countryside, exchanging paintings for bed and board. He died on 28 November 2011. Courtyard Arts, where he painted and socialised for many years was something of a ‘second home’ for him and held a retrospective exhibition of his works in 2012. Available for sale; this original painting is by Cornelius Pearson with a significant contribution by Thomas Francis Wainewright, and is dated 1872. The watercolor is presented and supplied in a sympathetic pinned corner frame dating from the 1950s or 1960s (which is shown in these photographs), mounted and behind glass. This antique painting is in very good condition whilst the frame is in a good condition, commensurate with age. It is ready to hang and display. The watercolor is signed by both artists and dated 1872 lower left. The mount is titled and attributed by hand. Cornelius Pearson was an accomplished landscape artist. He was born in Boston, Lincolnshire but moved at an early age to London where he became apprenticed to a copper-plate engraver. He soon abandoned engraving however to devote himself to being a watercolor painter. Although he lived in London throughout his career, he travelled for his work to paint in Kent, Ireland, Wales, the Lake District, Scotland, on the Thames and Devon. Signed lower right. David Fredenthal (1914 - 1958) was one ot America's most respected watercolor artists. He was famous for his bold, intensely vigorous and complex paintings and drawings that expressed his deep feeling for excitement with life and living. He was a draftsman with seemingly a special gift for catching anything, physically and emotionally on the spot, and he never went anywhere without three or four loaded pens and a sketchbook in his pocket. As part of the WPA project he executed a number of murals including the Sports Pavilion on the Heinz Building of the New York World's Fair 1939. Some of his fresco and mural techniques were inspired by his friendship with Diego Rivera who had admired and encouraged him in the early 1930's. After he won a traveling scholarship to Europe from The Museum of Modern Art at age 19, he was the recipient of two Guggenheim grants in Painting. He had his first solo exhibition at the Downtown Gallery in New York in 1937 at age 23, and many others after that including the Whitney Museum of American Art in 1947.
