This artwork titled "Earl Scwaiger's Barn" c.1980 is a watercolor on paper by American artist W. Ralph Murray, 1932-2009. It is signed at the lower right corner by the artist. The image size is 21.75 x 29.25 inches, paper size is 23 x 30 inches. It is in excellent condition. About the artist: W. Ralph Murray was born in 1932. He attended the Museum School of Art, now known as The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. Majored in Art Education with Graduate Studies at Syracuse University from 1957-1965. He reatched in Waterville, New York, Grades 1-12, 1956-1966; Cortland County Boces, Marathon and McGraw Schools, Grades 1-4, 1966-1969; West Winfield Elementary Schools, Grades 1-4, 1969-1987; Mohawk Valley Community College, Utica, New York, 1974-1983; Rome Community and Art Center, 1974-1984; Munson Williams Proctor School of Art, Utica, New York, 1989-2000; Kirkland Art Center, Clinton, New York, 1967 to 2009; Cooperstown Art Association, 1999 to 2009 and Hamilton, New York, at a private residence, 1998 to 2009. Ralph had been represented in the Cooperstown National and Regional Exhibitions, The Adirondack National Exhibition of American Watercolors in Old Forge, New York, the Watercolor Today at the Creative Workshop in New Haven, Connecticut, The Kent Art Association, Connecticut, the Batavia National Exhibition, Batavia, New York, the Baltimore Watercolor Society Shows, Baltimore, Maryland, the Southern Vermont Art Center National Exhibitions, Manchester, Vermont and the New York State Fair where he was awarded the State Purchase Prize in 1976 and 1978. Ralph was featured on the Watercolor Page in the October 1991 issue of the American Artist magazine and also authored the article. He was also one of the featured artists on the WCNY-TV Art Auction in 1993 in Syracuse, New York. In 2007 he received the prestigious Gordon Steele Best of Show award in the Associated Artists of Syracuse show. His one-man show was held there in April 2009. He also had a one-man show at the Neptune Art Gallery, Utica, New York, in May 2009. One-man shows have been held at the Art Centers in Clinton, Rome, Old Forge, SUNY of Oneonta, the Gallery at Jamaica, Vermont, the Laighton Gallery in Schenectady, NY, the Schweinfurth Art Center in Auburn, NY, the Canajoharie Art Gallery, NY, Elizabethtown College, Pennsylvania, Suny Institute of Technology, Utica/Rome, the Cooperstown Pioneer Gallery, The Cooperstown Art Association, the Associated Artists of Syracuse, the Jane Isabella Gallery in Johnstown, New York and three one-man shows at The Southern Vermont Art Center in Manchester, Vermont.

The artwork (image) size is 7 x 20 inches, framed size is 14.65 x 27.75 inches. Custom framed in a wooden gold frame, with light green matting and gold color spacer. It is in excellent condition, the frame have a very small minor restoration, practically invisible. About the artist: Shirley Cleary was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1942. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Washington University in St. Louis in 1964, studied at the University of Valencia in Spain in 1965, and at the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia in 1966, in Rome in 1967, and received her Masters of Fine Arts in 1968. Shirley Cleary received her BFA Degree from Washington University in St. Louis and her MFA Degree from Tyler School of Art of Temple University in Philadelphia and Rome, Italy. She also studied at the University of Valencia (Spain) and the Corcoran in Washington, DC. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri, has lived in Montana since 1971 and spends part of the winter painting and fishing in New Zealand. Her paintings have been featured in many publications including "American Artist", "Art West", "The Artist's Magazine", "US Art", "Inform Art", "Fly Fisher's Magazine", "Angler's Journal", "Disegnare & Dipingere" and in several issues of "Wildlife Art". Shirley has participated in many invitational and juried exhibitions including a one woman exhibition at the American Museum of Flyfishing in Manchester, Vermont and group exhibitions including "Women Artists of the West" at the Tucson Museum of Art in Arizona; Maryland Waterfowl Festival; Easton Academy of the Arts (Maryland) "the Art of Flyfishing-A Visual History"; Foothills Art Center (Golden, Colorado), "Rivers: The Song of Life", "Stampede Western Invitational Exhibit", (Greeley, Colorado); The Southeast Wildlife Festival in Charleston, South Carolina; "Wild Thing" and "The Artful Angler" and the CM Russell Auction at CM Russell Museum (Great Falls, Montana).
