About the Item

FRAMED Vine Charcoal on Rag Paper. Simple clean lines of nudes compares to Picasso's line-drawings. Nudes in corsets and fetish wear in black and white with a splash of red. The texture of the rag paper picks up the softness of the vine charcoal. These come matted and framed. Showing all of the suite plus installation of works. About the Artist: Kathleen was born in NYC and grew up on Long Island, the first of five children. She was drawing before she could write; it just came naturally, and was the way she loved to spend her time. At 10 she could capture photorealism drawing horses, and later fashion sketches. Her art has always evolved around woman and investigating elements of feminine roles in our society. She now resides in San Diego. Her corsets and bobby pin art are in private collections. She was awarded the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club Medal of Honor in Pastel for her work, “Blue Sink”, and published in International Artist. Making art for Kathleen is what keeps her sane, makes her happy and the thing she has to do. Her consistent work is with vine charcoal (bobby pin images and women’s torsos in corsets) and soft pastels (portraits and still life). Other interests include acrylic paint (black only) on paper or wood and 3 dimensional art in the form of fans and textural assemblage. Photographing models for her corset drawings has led to digitally enhanced imagery and an adventure in a new art form.

  • Super Moon
    By Paul Dempsey
    Located in East Hampton, NY
Glossy Print Inquire about special sizing comes unframed 11"x14" - $250 A supermoon is a full moon or a new moon that nearly coincides with perigee—the closest that the Moon comes to the Earth in its elliptic orbit—resulting in a slightly larger-than-usual apparent size of the lunar disk as viewed from Earth. The technical name is a perigee syzygy (of the Earth–Moon–Sun system) or a full (or new) Moon around perigee. The term supermoon is astrological in origin and has no precise astronomical definition. The real association of the Moon with both oceanic and crustal tides has led to claims that the supermoon phenomenon may be associated with increased risk of events like earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, but no such link has been found. About the artist: A computer programmer and Webmaster by trade, Paul describes himself as a fine art photographer and a “digital manipulator.” His keen vision captures ordinary details from daily life and transforms them into images of beauty and wit, filled with contrasting shapes and effects. Paul’s current series of abstract work focuses on macro images of nature combined with additional exposures of ice, snow, sand, and sky. These futuristic scenes, inspired by the writings of Kurt Vonnegut, offer a wry commentary on global warming and climate change. Paul’s work is printed on a variety of substrates including metal, paper, and canvas. His photography has been displayed in galleries such as Ashawagh Hall...

Charcoal on paper, 56cm x 38cm, (79cm x 60cm framed). Provenance: The Artist’s sister. From the mid-1940s to the early 1950s Colquhoun was considered one of the leading artists of his generation. Along with that of Robert MacBryde, another artist and Colquhoun’s partner, his work was regularly shown at the Lefevre Gallery in London. This early work is likely to be a drawing from when Colquhoun was at the Glasgow School of Art in the 1930s. Known as the ‘Two Roberts’, Colquhoun and MacBryde met at the Glasgow School of Art in 1932 and lived together until Colquhoun’s death in 1962. The pair also exhibited in several group shows at the Lefevre Gallery, including one in February 1946, alongside Ben Nicholson, Graham Sutherland, Bacon and Freud. Works were bought by the Arts Council, the British Council, the Contemporary Art Society and the Imperial War Museum. Major art patrons added their work to their collections, including Sir Kenneth Clark...
