Finally You Will Believe That When He Left I Was As Angry is an original colored pastel drawing realized between XIX-XX century by William Ablett.
Hand-signed by the artist on the lower right margin.
Original title handwritten on the lower center "XCVII - Enfin croirez vous que quand il s'en est allé j'en étais comme faché" "
Good conditions except for the yellowing of the paper.
This drawing represents a nude young woman sitting on a bed.
William Albert Ablett (1877-1937)
Son of William James Ablett (1843-?), President of the British Chamber of Commerce in France, the young William Albert entered the Beaux-Arts in Paris in March 1897, as a foreign student, presented by the painter Jean-Léon Gerome, whose classes he will follow, as well as those of Albert Aublet, who becomes a great friend of the young man. In February 1900, he won a first Second Prize for a figure drawn from nature at the Salon des artistes français. In 1907, he became a member of the Circle of artistic union.He exhibited from 1910 to 1936 at the salon of the National Society of Fine Arts, mainly portraits and painted genre scenes. In 1905, he received the silver medal for the painting prize at the international exhibition in Liège.The engraved work of Ablett developed from the early 1920s, especially around the magazine L'Estampe moderne. He performs female figures related to fashion and the decorative arts in the form of etchings in color.
