About the Item

Allan Rohan Crite: 1910-2007. Well listed and important African American artist. He was born in Ne Jersey but moved at a young age to Massachusetts. He graduated in 1936 from the School of the museum of Fine Arts in Boston. He also received a degree from Harvard in 1968. He has had auction results as high as $185,000. His favorite subject matters were daily life of African Americans in Boston's Roxbury and South end areas. He also was fascinated with religious themes. This wonderful pencil drawing of an African American woman measures 18 by 12. Paper is in rough shape but is stable, the image itself is in good condition. It is unframed.
