The portrait is linear and simple with some geometrical elements. The artwork is marvelous for the brilliance of the colors and the softness of the brushstrokes. The artist realized many portraits of this kind, showing a sense of refinement and mellowness.
François Chapuis was a French artist. He moved to Nancy with his family, where he attended the Academy of Fine Arts. Later, he moved to Paris, where he attended the Centre d'Art Sacré. He also realized many glass windows for churches. His name is renowned for the "mur lumière", associated with the application of different materials on a surface.
