Ritratto di Noemi, 7x10 inches. Graphite and White Chalk on Toned Paper. Drawing by artist Justas Varpucanskis. This piece utilizes the "rules of craftsmanship" as outlined in Cenino Cennini's "Il Libro dell'Arte". 21st century contemporary artwork that employs techniques, philosophy, and visual language of the Italian High Renaissance while simultaneously being an original composition and work of art. Work was done from life and employs sfumato modeling and chiaroscuro lighting. Drawing itself is not framed. For preservation of work, it's recommended to be framed and hung indoors in relative low-key lighting and to avoid displaying the drawing for prolonged periods of time in direct sunlight. When handling drawing, avoid touching front surface directly as oils from hands could have the potential to leave stains. Best way to handle work is by holding it from the back and by the edges of the paper surface.
