Paintings like this often provide a glimpse into the moral and social complexities of the time, where boundaries between vice, pleasure and everyday life were sometimes blurred. In this painting we can see how a woman leads a man into a room, where a lady is partially clothed and laying on a bed. Her clothes are thrown onto the table next to her, along with her jewelry.

Otto/Opus 348 and Otra/Opus 349 - Bronze Sculpture by M. Berrocal
Located in Roma, IT
OTTO - Opus 348 e OTRA - Opus 349 is a joyful polished and patinated bronze couple of sculptures representing a decomposable male and female bust, realized by the Spanish artist, Berrical Miguel in 1987.
This wonderful Contemporary scultures are signed and numbered (the signature and the number of the specimen is inscribed on the hoof). Edition of 999 copies.
In excellent conditions.
Generally it is combined with the female decomposable nude.
Berrical Miguel (Villanueva de Algaidas, 1933 - Antequera, 2006)
Berrical Miguel was a Spanish sculptor and artist also known as the puzzle sculptor, due to the particularity of his sculptures.
In the first half of the twentieth century the young Berrocal sought his artistic journey by asking himself: "How to awaken the public thanks to a sculpture?". From this reflection comes his personal artistic philosophy and his plastic language that can be summarized in 7 key concepts: scientific inspiration, empty space, disassembly, interactive aesthetics, techniques, multiple.
His work was unified by an underlying search for beauty, borne from his study of mathematics and physics early in life. His sculptures, like this one, often consist of interlocking elements known as “component parts” that can be assembled into unique forms within a series of almost identical objects. Working in a wide range of sizes, Berrocal’s pieces could be sometimes very large in scale for public spaces, while other times small enough to be worn as jewelry.
The Spanish artist spent much of his life in Verona, Italy because here he discovered a small foundry that allowed him to cast his complex and modular sculptures...

Bronze Architectural Abstract Theater Model French Contemporary Sculpture
Located in Surfside, FL
Guillaume Couffignal (French b. 1964)
Theatre, 2014. Bronze.
19 7/8 x 13 1/2 x 7 1/4 inches.
Signed on the base: Couffignal. Beautiful texture and patina.
Guillaume Couffignal is a French Postwar & Contemporary self taught, outsider artist who was born in 1964. He works in bronze casting complex, fantastic, architecture models, abstract theater and boat models that look like relics from the past. He learned the art of lost wax casting with a traditional African foundry in Koudougou, Burkina Faso in Africa when he was 23, blessed to find his way so young. He felt the deep alchemy of the process combining the elements of Nature to produce a concept that did not previously exist in our world. He saw the potential of this earth magic. It forces chance and pushes the limits of bronze because each sculpture can never be exactly reproduced.
Like the use of clay, this art has a deep connection with the primitive elements of Nature. There is the wind and the sky and the earth and the fire. There are ashes and dust. Here exists a collaboration with the spirit of the Illusionist, an artist in all his unpredictability.
But it is not an art of chance. The Illusionist / artist masters the elements of accident and surprise. He is a magician who controls the secrets of his process. In the case of Couffignal, this has to do with the three-dimensional collage of carefully chosen fragments and shapes and with its earth-like textures, carefully perfected over many years of experimentation.
Its textures make the materials lie. They have an irregular patina of wear and bad weather. They make bronze itself secondary with this creamy pigmentation of the earth burnt by the sun. The texture then becomes a painting.
Couffignal sets the scene for the pure drama of the void. He fills it with memories and voices. This decor is visually minimal, but this very minimalism points to the importance of his other intentions. Its boats are "soul boats" caught between two universes. Its architectural pieces evoke ruins and nevertheless attest to their own existence.
Although this process is ancient, and in this case learned from the African tradition, the true testimony of the power of Guillaume Couffignal is that not a single element of his work derives from something existing. As a true iconoclast, he has taken up a traditional language, learned this language, and starting from this language has created a poetry completely unique and unique to him. Randal Morris, 2013. His work is from the tradition of outsider art, art brut, folk art, naïve art, visionary art and intuitive art with a sophisticated subject matter. A kind of symbiosis of jean Dubuffet and Daniel Arsham.
Sculptures as forgotten images of a world where the trace always precedes presence. As in the art of raku, ancestral Japanese pottery where the cooking accident and the patina of use - wabi and sabi - testify to an intimate cosmogonic geography. Omnipresent memory of the color and the smell of the earth - mud, noble material which in Africa is used to erect huts, houses, palaces and mosques. Historically and up to the margins of the caravan route, on the borders of the great Arabic Muslim...

Leslie Fry, Untitled (Cuffed 4), bronze fantastical sculpture of female hand
Located in New York, NY
A 2023 recipient of the Vermont Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts,
Leslie Fry is represented in this show with fantastical sculptures of female hands, titled the “Cuffed” series. Tensely poised and mannered gestures, inspired by Parmigianino and Caravaggio, cascade into blooms and barnacles, creating a mesmerizing visual dissonance. This elision of romance and rigidity both draws attention to the limitations of the female form and liberates it from the constraints of reality. Leslie Fry’s works have been exhibited internationally at such venues as Kunsthaus in Hamburg, Zwitscher Machine Gallery in Berlin, Hangaram Art Museum in Seoul, Windspiel Galerie in Vienna, Couvent des Cordeliers in Paris, Artists Space and Wave Hill in New York, deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum near Boston, and Centre des Arts Visuels in Montreal. Her public sculptures have been commissioned in New York, South Korea, Montreal, Florida, Wisconsin, and Vermont; public collections include Tufts University, Songchu International Sculpture Park, Freehand New York, Kohler Arts Center, Tampa Museum of Art, Fleming Museum of Art, Musée d’art de Joliette, and St. Petersburg, Florida’s Museum of Fine Arts. Fry’s M.F.A. is from Bard College, and her B.A. is from the University of Vermont, with a Foundation year at the Central School of Art in London. She currently lives and works in Winooski, VT.
Artist Statement:
#1 My hands reach, touch, and shape.
Hands let go and receive; they try to hold things and to hold things together. Some of my images of hands are derived from Mannerist paintings by Parmigianino and Caravaggio, and are ink-washed onto vintage tablecloths...
