The black paint is chalkboard paint, and the white is a mixture of white chalk and white acrylic paint. The piece is meant to have a sketchy, raw feel to it. It is part of a series of work inspired by the artist Egon Schiele.
About the Artist
Bigger is better. For Amber Dixon, the actions required to create large art are directly linked to the power of her pieces. She loves to create pieces that engulf the viewer. She draws inspiration from many feminists and performance artists of the 60s. To tell a story racked with emotion, Amber creates work with words and lines from her favorite books or songs.

Born in Venezuela, Yelitza Diaz;s life has been wrapped in the arts since childhood. She founded a gallery with her husband, who is also an artist, and was successful for many years until the crime and corruption in the local government became unbearable. They now live in South Carolina, where she makes art that explores human existentialism and the political and social developments of her native country. Her sculptures are made with ceramic techniques using a minimalist contemporary style.
