Amy Christie
Amy Christie was born in Leicestershire in 1977. She graduated from the University of East Anglia with a BA Honors in language, literature and art. She was awarded international diplomas in languages and translation from a year studying at the University of Corsica Pasquale Paoli. She traveled extensively throughout her teens and 20s, often traveling alone or working in a country to fully immerse herself in the culture. Christie spent the first eight years of her career as a translator of French and Italian, with her artwork taking a backseat due to time constraints. However, a move to Cornwall in 2010 led to a shift in career to art publishing and also afforded her the time to take up her brushes again and develop her style and technique. Christie says, “While foreign languages were an integral part of my life, my long-standing obsession with art grew in intensity until the inevitable happened and I began translating not words onto paper, but ideas and emotions onto canvas. Over the years, I’ve spent a great deal of time in Italy studying beautiful yet time-worn frescoes and paintings, which ignited a passion for recreating an ancient look. The overall effect in my work is a painting that appears to have been subjected to time’s ravaging hands, but has the vibrancy and clarity of a modern piece.”

- Tulips Against Blue Amy Christie, Affordable Bright Still Life Contemporary ArtBy Amy ChristieLocated in Deddington, GBTulips Against Blue Original Still Life Painting Mixed-Media on Canvas Canvas size Size: 40 x 40 cm Framed size: 44 x 44 cm Framed in a White Wooden Hand Painted Tray Frame Please note that insitu images are purely an indication of how a piece may look. Tulips Against Blue is an original mixed-media painting by Amy Christie. Painted in bright, vibrant colours with acrylics and mixed-media to achieve a textured surface on the canvas. Amy has used silverleaf on many parts of the composition plus a metallic glaze to highlight certain areas. The silverleaf and shimmering glaze catch the light beautifully, so this is a piece of artwork that changes depending on the time of day, the light in the room and the direction from which the painting is viewed… artwork that literally changes before your eyes. I’m a North-Norfolk based painter inspired by the joy and vibrancy of flowers. They are a great vehicle for colour and I thoroughly enjoy selecting, mixing and working into my paints to create a piece that sings. I aim to uplift the viewer with my artwork and feel that I have succeeded in my work if I bring about a smile, a feeling of peace or a moment where all that matters is the beauty of colour and form. I work in acrylics and use textures and glazes with multiple layers of colour to create interesting and exciting effects. Paint is partially removed and pulled back to reveal hidden colours and I often adorn the painting with gold- or silver-leaf to illuminate it even further. I also use antique wooden printing blocks...Category

"Pradosh’s paintings have a surrealistic quality, the imagery is dreamy and mystical and rendering is such as if there is some kind of romance and magic happening amongst the colours in his palette. His paintings are the result of brilliant culminations of feelings and things that are between imagination and reality." Style : Pradosh’s works can be described as psychic automatism in its pure state. His works are expressive and his palette vibrant and gorgeous. Nature is the frequent imagery that we see in his paintings. Sometimes his imagery is outlandish, perplexing and uncanny as it is meant to shake the viewer and make them to think beyond the theories which they have guarded themselves with. Lot of elements that we see in pradosh’s paintings also come from his childhood days in Odisha. His paintings often take us on a nostalgic ride where we see elements which we were so used to and have now learnt to live without. He uses common elements that we see in our day to day life to convey his feelings and thought which makes his works all the more interesting. His paintings leave the viewer perplexed at the first glance but a deeper look gives the insight into his thoughts that instigate him to create. Pradosh’s paintings have a surrealistic quality, the imagery is dreamy and mystical and rendering is such as if there is some kind of romance and magic happening amongst the colours in his palette. His paintings are the result of brilliant culminations of feelings and things that are between imagination and reality. They reflect his genuine concern about issues he feels for. He emphasizes on the power of imagination and believes that revelation could be found anywhere….on the streets and in everyday life. Through his paintings artist depicts the notion that how our high pace life is making all of us loose that contact from the nature or even with ourselves.
