Apostolos Chantzaras
Apostolos Chantzaras continues to develop his own visual and entertaining world, without fear for bold line, form and saturated color. Greek-born Chantzaras first studied painting under Chronis Botsoglou at the Athens School of Fine Arts and then continued studies in Photography and Fresco. He was nominated for the IKY scholarship in 2000–3 and studied painting at the Université Paris VIII (2004–5). Influenced by working beside his father, Eleftherios Chantzaras, a renowned Byzantine painter and iconographer are also quite relevant in his style and technique. His extraordinary means of expression reveal influences from the shadow puppet show, combining a rich legacy of symbols related to Greece and that part of the world - The sun, the cross, the fish, the church, the simple islanders, all come together in a unique and perceptible artistic amalgam. Chantzaras’ lyrical work has been featured on the cover of several published novels including Olga or Nothing by Lito Pitiris, Kedros Publishing (2013), Imaginary Adventure by Alexandros Kotzias, Kedros Publishing (2012) and Glass Industry by Menis Koumantareas, published by Vima Newspaper (2011). In 2008, Chantzaras produced the collector stamp series “Greek Traditional Products” for the national Greek Post (ELTA). In 2013, Chantzaras was featured in Florence, Italy in conjunction with the Venice Biennale.

- Sophie # 5, hand painted mixed media portrait photography on paper, framedBy Rosie EmersonLocated in Dallas, TXThis beutiful unique edition is framed on a custom black box frame, all archival materials. Rosie Emerson, born in 1981, is a contemporary artist working almost exclusively on representing the female form. Emerson’s figures draw reference from archetypes old and new, from Artemis to the modern day super model, each solitary figure, an allegory of her own fantasy. Interested in surface, the interplay between photography and painting. Emerson’s works are playful constructs; Photography is used, not as a device for capturing reality but for creating romanticised optical illusions. Inspired by her love of theatre, performance, shrines and rituals, she uses lighting, costume, set and prop making, alongside printmaking and painting to create other worldly one off pieces. Her photography is inspired by both the drama of the baroque, and ethereal qualities of Pre Raphaelite works. Other important influences include late medieval and renaissance paintings, Japanese prints, and magical realist literature. Emerson’s screen...Category

Artwork Details: Paradise Island, 148x111.5cm, ink, acrylic paint and mixed media on paper, 2013 Artwork Provenance: from the Artist Studio photo credits, Isabel working, black and white shots, James Brown In Isabel's own words: Paradise island It truly was paradise on paradise island. No plastic bottles touched these shores, no human hand had exploited the rich minerals and resources of the land, no complicated administrative tasks affected the residents. The birdmen who lived there were united in one common purpose, and that was to wait for The Egg. They waited day and night in a fever of excitement, hours and days and sometimes weeks went past and they did not grow weary, this only increased their anticipation. They stretched their arms to the sky and called for The Egg to bless them by falling. Deep in the hearts of the birdmen was a thing never spoken of and rarely even aknowledged to themselves, a common secret, that when The Egg actually fell it was not as good as the anticipation of it. *Please note we are happy to ship this work rolled in an art tube. Artwork Details: Tom Yum Yum, 142x121.5cm, ink, mixed media and acrylic paint on paper, 2013 Artwork Provenance: from the Artist Studio photo credits, Isabel working, black and white shots, James Brown In Isabel's own words: Tom Yum Yum Of the King prawns, the normal prawns and the shrimps, all prawns were equal when they were in the soup. There was no monarchy in the hot volcanic bubbles of the boiling tasty soup. All the prawns had regrets, some more than others. Some regretted they had spent more time with their prawn spawn, others that they had been kinder to their friends, it all seemed rather trivial now, the petty jealousies, the rivalry, the endless striving to get ahead, trying to find the best mating partner. None of it really mattered as the soupy steam engulfed them. 'We had a good time,' shouted one valiant King prawn, 'I did my best,' came a high squeak of a shrimp. 'I tried to be content with what I had, that's all that matters but it is hard when constantly bombarded with images of others success,' said a thoughtful prawn. *Please note we are happy to ship this work rolled in an art tube.
