Artist Comments
"Geometric patterns have been used in art throughout world," explains Brit. "They are thought to reflect the language of the universe. The combination of geometric patterns within the landscape is a recurring theme in my art, and I have always felt there is a complementary energy that bind the two together." The highly textured surface and low relief effects are created by a combination of embossed papers and layering of acrylic paint.
About the Artist
Artist Brit J Oie grew up in a small rural town on the west coast of Norway where nature was her playground and creativity was a way of life. The men in her family were woodworkers and the women did knitting, sewing and weaving. Brit started her art career as a weaver in Norway. After marrying an American and moving to the United States, she went back to school for a degree in Fine Art. During her senior exhibition, Brit developed her mixed media technique using embossed papers and acrylic paint, which is a culmination of all the styles she has previously mastered. Today, she works in a light-filled studio in the River Arts District of Asheville, NC. Her work is held in numerous private collections in the U.S. and Norway as well as the University of North Carolina, Asheville. Outside of the studio, Brit enjoys hiking, gardening and soaking in outdoor hot springs, relaxing and taking in the river view.

Patrick O'Boyle primarily paints in a studio, rarely using reference material other than his own thoughts and dreams. He always paints in a series of five - at the end of the fifth painting he revisits and reworks all of them until he feels they're complete.
