Guitar portrays the shape of a guitar covered in multiple layers of texture, typography, color and shapes. The strong contrast of the black and white shapes of the guitar and the background’s red and yellow hues deliver a fragmented depiction of the object, suggesting the heightened anxiety and confusion that is created by the bombardment of media we are all exposed to on a daily basis. The nature of chaos inspires Daryl Thetford’s work. Collage provides a means to reflect and express the tension between our fragmented struggle for understanding and simultaneously articulate the beauty that can emerge from disorder.
